Swedish Translator in Whiteley, UK

STP is looking for a Swedish Translator to join its team of in-house translators, at the forefront of the industry. Job in Brief Role: Swedish Translator, Swedish Translator/Project Manager Location: London or Whiteley, Hampshire, United Kingdom Start: 1 August / 4 September 2017 Job Description Swedish Translator Working alongside STP’s translation teams and project managers, you will translate and revise content for a wide variety of clients, and subject areas ranging from information technology to technical and commercial texts. You will be trained for and use a host of translation environment tools, as well as learn machine translation post-editing, and benefit from being at the cutting edge of technological developments in the translation industry. Your daily tasks will include:
  • translation and revision (English into Swedish) of a wide range of domains and text types
  • other linguistic tasks such as glossary creation, transcreation or content authoring
  • quality control
  • collaboration with other linguistic teams and departments across STP
Job Description Swedish Translator/Project Manager We also have a vacancy for a Swedish Translator/Project Manager. Combining translation with project management, you will translate and localise content for some of the world’s most recognisable brands. You will also project-manage work assigned to freelance translators, and provide first-class service and support for one or more of STP’s key client accounts. Your daily tasks will include:
  • translation and revision (English into Swedish)
  • managing projects from start to finish
  • assigning work to freelance translators
  • ensuring profitability and timely delivery
  • quality control
  • direct interaction with STP’s clients
  • collaboration with other linguistic teams and departments across STP
Location Both roles are based at STP’s headquarters in Whiteley, Hampshire, in the south of England. The office is commutable from the vibrant coastal cities of Portsmouth and Southampton, and is under two hours from London by train. Gatwick Airport is also only 90 minutes away by train. Skills and Experience Essential:
  • degree in translation or languages/communication with translation
  • native speaker of Swedish
  • positive, helpful and flexible attitude
  • excellent IT skills
  • ability to learn new skills, technologies and workflows quickly
Desirable:
  • previous translation experience
  • knowledge of computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools
